Hannah's Haircut for Charity
Next week Hannah Castleman of 'The Spitfire Sisters' will be visiting the salon on her quest to cut off her lovely curly hair and donate it to the Little Princess Trust.
Hannah recently read a social media post by actress Claire Bowen, where she recalls a story about 'a little girl who said she couldn't be a princess because she didn't have long hair'. This really resonated with Hannah and if you wish to read the full post to find out why visit: https://www.facebook.com/clarembee/posts/1037820066252639:0
"It shouldn't matter how long your hair is, or what you look like, or what you wear; when you're a child, you should be able to be whatever you want to be." - Hannah Castleman, The Spitfire Sisters.
As Hannah states on her Just Giving page, hair loss can be incredibly upsetting for a child and the Little Princess Trust provides wigs for children who are receiving treatment for cancer, as well as children who have other conditions resulting in hair loss .
In Hannah's eyes through this charity's work, "a child can be a princess (or prince!) whether they are wearing their wig or not". A lovely sentiment I am sure you will agree!
Therefore, when she approached us and we read up on the reason behind this big decision. We couldn't help but agree to donate a haircut to this worthy cause. As a result, on Thursday 28th July at 12pm, Hannah is in for a cut with our up and coming talent Becky.
However, not only is she donating her hair to the Little Princess Trust, the money Hannah also raises in this endeavour will be donated to Marie Curie UK. Another charity that is very close to her heart.
The morning of the big chop, Hannah and the rest of 'The Spitfire Sisters' will also be raising money for Marie Curie UK by busking in Winchester. Hannah has even said she will try and perform some hair themed songs to get into the spirit of things and is also welcome to suggestions!
If you have been touched by what you have read today or wish to help us support Hannah, please visit her fundraising page at: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/hannahcastlemanhair. She is hoping to reach a target of £250, so any amount would be hugely appreciated as would your support on the day!
We hope to follow this up with a post-haircut blog post later next week, but keep your eyes out for photos of the big day on our Instagram account!
