Hats off to Hat Fair
At the time of writing we're less than two weeks away from the 2019 Winchester Hat Fair and we're looking forward to introducing Guests new and old to our exclusive, walk-in Hat Fair Braid Bar.
For two days only we'll be offering a walk-in service for those wanting to add a little hair magic to their Hat Fair experience.
On Friday the 5th and Saturday the 6th of July our amazing hair braiding team will provide cute, festival-style braids for only £10. There is no need to book...just pop into the salon at a time that suits you over these two days and let us do the rest!
And if you're new to the Winchester Hat Fair then you're in for a treat! Hat Fair is the UK’s longest continually running festival of Outdoor Arts and is free to attend.
Founded in 1974 by Jonathan Kay, Hat Fair is inspired by the people, heritage and public spaces within the city of Winchester.
Initially conceived as a busking festival, Hat Fair takes its name from the tradition of the audience showing their appreciation by putting money in the hat at the end of the show. (Although these days performers are paid a fee!)
A few of this year's predicted highlights include:
- Motionhouse return with Wild, a brand new show co-commissioned by Hat Fair. Expect a daring dance/circus performance based in and on a forest of poles!
- Congregation, an immersive, sound art procession from multi-award winning composer and artist Ray Lee.
- Tickertape Parade’s Fantabulosa! a glitter-filled world of drag and queer performance, created for 3-8 year olds but fabulous for all ages!

It really is a fantastic experience and so much to choose from.
(And if you've missed out on our special Hat Fair Braid Bar offering, don't forget that our Mawson & Company Braid Bar will be operating as usual outside of the Hat Fair weekend. Book online or phone us on 03444 777 611.)
