Mawson Crew Girls 'Cycling for Kate'

April 19, 2016

This month as you all know, we have been celebrating ‪Earth Month and the importance of protecting the ‪‎Earth, but also its people too!

The other week we had the pleasure of meeting Jane Nandy who made the brave decision to shave her head, all in the name of Macmillan Cancer Support.  This week we are very proud to announce that three of our very own Stylists are cycling for a cause very close to their hearts and on Sunday 15th May; AJ, Kerry Louise and Sarah (with partners in tow!) will be ‘Cycling for Kate’.

'The Mawson Crew Girls': AJ, Kerry Louise and Sarah'

Back in December 2014 we lost a very dear client; Kate Sanderson, who lost her fight to MND at the very young age of 50. Currently there is no prevention, no treatment and no cure to this disease.

“MND can affect any of us at any time of life. It robs us of our physical mobility, our ability to communicate and forces ourselves to be dependent upon others. In essence it robs us of our identity whilst we're forced to surrender ourselves to its effects. We need to find a cure.” Rob Sanderson

Since Kate passed away her loving husband Rob Sanderson and son Will Sanderson (both of whom are clients) have taken on the challenge to raise awareness of this disease and also raise as much money as possible to help find a cure - and all in Kate’s memory.  Hence ‘Cycle for Kate’ was born!

In the summer of 2015 Rob and Will completed their first and very successful charity ride by crossing the channel and cycling from Calais to Perpignan - in only 10 days!  Raising a whopping £24,026.97 £27,967.79 inc Gift Aid according to their fundraising page!

Knowing that cycling 800 miles is not for everyone, this year they have gone about organising a more inclusive event in memory of Kate and to continue their fundraising for the MNDA, The Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Therefore, on Sunday 15th May 2016 taking place is a one day cycle event bringing friends, family and the world of rugby, food & farming together – consisting of a Circular cycle event of 22, 76 or 104 miles. The choice is yours! (the girls are going for the 22 miles)

We are thrilled and very proud of the fact that AJ, Kerry-Louise  Sarah are taking part and ask you to join in with wishing them all the best in their preparations and on the big day itself!   Keep your eyes peeled to find out how they got on!

“ We are really excited and busily buying our padded shorts! It is going to be a really good day with pub stops and food along the way.  So why not come on down and join in the fun, and help support us and this great cause!” AJ

“Amazing job organising this event Rob - I wish everyone taking part the best of luck!” Kerry- Louise.
