On May 3rd 22 teams of 4 took to the fairways enjoying some of the first spring sunshine at the renowned Remedy Oak Golf Club (Verwood, Dorset) to fundraise for Wessex Heartbeat. The charity that supports the work of the Wessex Cardiac Centre in Southampton.
On behalf of Mawson&Company Tony Mawson attended this annual golf day, which was sponsored this year by Liberty Leasing Plc, an asset finance company based in Warsash , Southampton.
Having teamed up with a team from Liberty Leasing captained by Dave Parsons. Tony went on to play an excellent day of golf at this prestigious course, which ended with his team winning the Wessex Heartbeat Alan Ball Golf Trophy (See photo).
Over £17,000 was raised on the day for Wessex Heartbeat, a charity that is the driving force behind achieving the very best care for people with heart conditions treated in the Wessex Cardiac Centre, one of the foremost Cardiac Centres in the UK and internationally. As their website states; "Despite this, what is best today can be made better tomorrow as advances in care happen" and therefore this is what Wessex Heartbeat strive to achieve for, in all they do.
Therefore, we are very proud to announce that at this great event Tony Mawson also presented the charity with a generous donation, to enable them to purchase an Atrial Fibrillation machine for their "Healthy Heart" initiative. An initiative aimed at supporting the health of our community throughout the Wessex Region, of Hampshire, West Sussex, Dorset, Wiltshire and the Channel Islands, by visiting both companies and communities to offer blood pressure checks, cholesterol testing, blood glucose and body mass index checks.
The Atrial Fibrillation machines can detect serious Heart defects which can lead to heart failure and are used as part of this service, where dedicated Cardiac Nurses carry out health checks on employees and provide them with; their results, information on staying healthy and also give advice based on their individual results, and where there are any concerns, the participant will be advised to visit their GP.
