What's set to be big in 2017?
Last Friday the Team got together to discuss the latest hair trends. Please find below our findings and a breakdown of the hairstyles set to be big in 2017...
Yes really , the 'Modern Mullet' - said to make a comeback by Hairdresser of the Year Karine Jackson: http://www.karinejackson.co.uk/. Consisting of soft, feathered, and face-framing fringe this is a modern version of the 'The Shag'.
2016 was the year of 'The Lob'. For those of you un-familiar with the term, a 'Lob' refers to a long bob i.e mid-length hair that is neither long or short. The perfect look for someone growing out a shorter hair-style or for someone who always wears their hair long, but fancies a change without having to go too short.
This year however, the 'Short Bob' is to return and hair is to come back off the shoulders.
Expert Tip: A chic chin-grazing length of a cropped ‘do' will really work to brighten and open up a face.
Those of you who have grown to love your 'Lob' and love it for its versatility, and just got out of bed look - do not panic! The 'Lob' natural air-dried look is here to stay for a while longer!
We feel this look will never go out of fashion, as it can be worn in so many different ways - from the one length, to short at the back and long at the sides, and with the addition of layers for added texture.
Short hair has recently had a highly textured look. 2017 is all about short, sleek looking hair..
Expert Tip: Don't worry if you have naturally frizzy or flyaway hair. Aveda's Smooth Infusion family of products will have you covered to help you achieve this look .
Fringes are a great way to change up your look with out to much of a drastic change. A shorter version of a full fringe, was spotted on the catwalks at London Fashion Week.
Expert Tip: If you fancy a change... it is easier to grow out a fringe then to grow your hair back down past your shoulders if you decide to have your hair drastically cut shorter but then later decide you miss your long locks!
Curls are set to be huge this year - whether its embracing your natural curls or experimenting with curling tongs/wands or even the modern perm!

This is the perfect look for this time of year when we are spending most of the time trying to tame our mane and get rid of kinks and unwanted curls. So ditch the straighteners and embrace what nature gave you!
Expert Tip: Achieve less frizz ball and more luscious definition and volume, with help from our Aveda Be Curly products.
The Ponytail is also set to feature lots through out 2017. A simple and practical look which can also be accessorized up. A slight flashback and homage to the high ponytails worn in the 90's.
Essentially a combination of 'Blonde' and 'Orange', this is simply and newer version of the 'Rose Pink' colour trend that we saw lots of in 2016. However, with stronger red tones, this 'Strawberry blonde'
colour is more flattering for paler/fairer skin tones and is a lot more wearable.
- Colour Contouring/Eclipting
This is a hair colouring technique which has been heavily influenced by the make up industry and was first introduced to us by Aveda.
The Eclipting/Contouring colouring technique is where certain sections of hair are highlighted to accentuate facial features. The use of lighter and darker highlights around the face help contour hair, much the same as the make up technique. It also helps to enhance length and definition in the hair.
